DEWALT D25501K 1-9/16-Inch SDS Max Combination Hammer Kit

The DEWALK D25501K 1-9/16-Inch SDS Max Combination Hammer Kit is the ideal Hammer kit for anything in the commercial concrete environment. This drill is mostly used to break up concrete or any tough surface that you may come across.

This hammer drill includes a 12-amp motor with a high performance and overload protection. It clocks in at about 490-3300 bpm. It has a two handed grip for power and stability, and a carrying case. This drill kit does not contain any bits. It is also on the lighter end of hammer drills, at only 17 lbs.

Overall Experience

Overall, this is a great hammer to break up some concrete. It has 8.0 lbs of impact energy for fast and powerful work on any jobsite that you might have. For chipping, it has a Trigger Lock On capability to make chipping the sides of concrete more accurate. This would be mostly used for easier commercial concrete jobs.

The Verdict

This is a valued tool in any contractor’s arsenal. Easy tool to break up concrete with although the kit is rather simple and is missing a couple of items. It is missing a depth rod, the ability to reverse, and variable speed.
The depth rod would be used to tell you how deep the drill is going which can be a nuisance if you don’t have one so I would recommend getting one in addition to this drill. No reverse capability means that you will have to pull it out if it gets jammed or unstable.

That being said, the drill does have a clutch, which combats the jamming that you may come across. Variable speed is used for make breaking the concrete easier to do, and this drill does not come with it. It is a pretty simple drill but if you need to get the job done it will get it done for you. The drill does not come with bits, but it uses the standard SDS-Max bits which most of the drills in the market do.

It is easily comparable to the Milwaukee Hammer Kit or the Makita brand, delivering high performance for a decent price.
DEWALT makes durable, great products so if you are looking for a simple drill to get you started then this is definitely the one. If the vibration and drill bothers you, go for the next model, which has more stability.
